So I haven't exactly been keeping up on this, and I'm not sure if anyone really reads this, but I'll try to get back on track with a post. This has been quite a year. I lived alone for the beginning of the year, while my girlfriend was studying abroad in Spain. Then I met her there, and traveled all over with her, making stops in Madrid, Valencia, Rome, Paris, Berlin, and a few other smaller European towns. I didn't have my guitar with me, which was the longest I've gone without it since I was 16. But I didn't travel empty handed. I carried an engagement ring in my pocket and proposed in Rome. We then traveled as a happy newly engaged couple throughout Europe. It was the best 3 weeks of my life! We spent our time taking in the history, culture, food, sights, and sounds. We spent a week in Germany with some close friends of ours, drinking beer and eating sausages in the Biergartens, to navigating the Autobahn, visiting small towns in southern Germany. Thank you guys so much for showing us a great time!!! The entire trip was truly worth it, and we can't wait to go back.
It's been almost three years since my last album "Michigan's Waltz" was released. And by released, I mean recording it myself, and paying to have a thousand copies pressed, to sell myself at shows. It's not exactly the big time, but it's been extremely rewarding, and a good excuse to travel around and play shows for wonderful audiences. And, since it's been 3 years, I've decided it's time to start working on another one. I'll be starting up a new band with my good friend and drummer, Billy Harrington, and plan on recording this winter. Keep your eyes and ears open for it this spring. hopefully.

A good start to 2010
So it's been a great year so far. I found out that my new album "Michigan's Waltz" made it in the top 10 of John Bommarito's (Ann Arbor's 107.1) top 100 albums of the year, coming in at number 9. The album also made number 4 in Torch & Twang's (East Lansing's Impact 88.9fm) top 45 albums of the year. On top of that I found out that I had been nominated for 3 Grand Rapids WYCE 88.1 Jammie Awards. I didn't win, but being nominated was enough to make my year! On top of all that I was accepted into the Earthwork Music Collective as an official member!
For those of you who don't know about the Earthwork collective, check us out online at www.earthworkmusic.com . it's a great group of people who are working together to not only make great music, but to promote and work on important issues like keeping our rivers and lakes clean and preserving our water supplies, supporting organic farming, and promoting a strong and healthy school system so our kids can have better lives than we do. My mom is a Lansing Kindergarten teacher so I understand the struggles with a school system in trouble from the crumbled Michigan economy.
So yes, 2010 has been a good year so far and I'm excited for the days to come. Jen Sygit and myself have a packed schedule with multiple tours in the works. We'll be in Chicago on March 2oth to kick off a tour to New Orleans and back. Keep an eye out on my website for a complete list of dates. www.samcorbin.com
Hope to see you on the road,
